Shatrughan Sinha told ETimes, "He was one of the best people in the film industry in terms of payment. He would come home and give the payment himself." Talking more on his penchant for commercial films, Sinha said, "He had a knack for making commercial films. He made multi-starrers, and that too with a unique combination of actors, whether it was Sunil Dutt, Feroz Khan, Kamal Haasan, Sanjay Khan, Reena Roy, Rekha, or myself."​
